Lawrence Crosby a Doctoral Candidate of Northwestern University was not only falsely, but violently arrested after Police accused Crosby of theft of his own vehicle.  

The misunderstanding came from, as of now an anonymous citizen, in which reports say was a woman.  A woman who so happened to been driving down the street when she saw, what she believed was a man stealing a car.  When in reality he was outside working on his car.  She took it upon herself to stalk and follow him, updating the operator on every turn he made allowing cops to catch up with him.  And once they did,  the way Cops on scene went about apprehending Mr.Crosby was as the NFL would refer to unnecessary roughness.

The incident which was caught on dash cam footage, took place in October of 2015.  Except it wasn’t until recently that the footage was released by the Evanston, IL Police Department that had it.  The video in which I posted below, shows Crosby being surrounded, then attacked by several officers.  From what Cosby revealed after the incident, he was aware someone was following him.  And he was driving to a Police Station for help, when he was pulled over and accosted in the church parking lot.

City of Evanston:“I understand being a police officer is a tough job, but we need them to exercise judgment in their day to day operations,” said Evanston Alderman Brian Miller, who is running for mayor.  “Within 10 seconds of Mr. Crosby getting out of his car with his hands in the air, he was tackled, he was kneed while he was standing up, then he was punched repeatedly by multiple officers, for allegedly stealing his own car. Our police officers need to be better than that.”

They go on in the video trying to justify the treatment of Mr.Cosby by saying the beating fell within their training guidelines, basically.   From the time he got out the car, up until the point they finally starting beating him, nobody bothered to even tell him what he’d  been pulled over for.

 If your pointing guns at me telling me to get on the ground, the first thing you need to be saying is for what.  That way I can calmly explain that this is my car and I have proof.  Heck I know my Drivers License off the top of my head . I can quote it for you.  You can run it and check to see I am who I say I am.  Run my plates and boom.

As of Lawrence has filed suit againstt the city of Evanston and the Officers who were involved..’
