Lil Wayne is coming for Universal Music Group in a “Court of Law” for profits he believes they withheld for the artist that he’s signed ie. Drake, Tyga & Nicki Minaj. Weezy believe they withheld royalties solely on the basis of repaying 100 Million dollar that was given to Cash Money Records Founder Birdman over 10 years ago.
Mr. Carter says that the debt and the payment of such is neither of his responsibility and he’s owed 40 Million and likely punitive damages with interest I don’t blame him for being upset about, 40 Mil isn’t pocket change in the least and you didn’t give me 100 Million, so why are you short changing me? Universal has definitely cashed in on the artist that Weezy brought to his own label Young Money, hence the differentiation between Cash Money which you gave the money to.
In my opinion He’s probably owed more then that which is why more then likely Universal will settle silently out of court, they don’t want Wayne’s lawyers all in there bank acct’s and financials auditing there books. Then other artist might start to come out and openly question about there royalties and they don’t want a whole situation like Sony had with Kesha. So you better believe Weezy gone get his money. Dont be surprised if you hear him on aRIRI “Bih Better Have my Money Remix”.
Universal responded to Mr.Carters lawsuit, in a statement below:
“It should be no surprise that we learned of the lawyer’s complaint through the news media,” a spokesman writes. “We don’t intend to dignify this with further public comment except to say that we will vigorously contest it and that the merits of our case will carry the day.”
