In a display of servanthood on this Easter weekend, Miami Police Department took part in the foot-washing tradition.
Officer James Bernat spent Good Friday with the homeless at the Miami Rescue Mission for its Thanksgiving Good Friday Serve-a-Thon.
In the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples as a display of humility. Officer Bernat emulated the selfless act by washing the feet of a homeless person.
Bernat is part of Miami Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team and works closely with the City of Miami Homeless Shelter program.
